Zion National Park Pine Creek Canyon

Just came home from a wonderful weekend in Zion National Park, Utah. And Wow, was the weather great. It was pretty crowded for October, but I think that was on account of the weather being so perfect.
The images below are from a slot canyon called Pine Creek. It took us (a group of 9 people) about 5 hours to go through. It was a pretty challenging hike for me. There are about 7 areas in the canyon where you have to repel down on ropes. The last repel is almost 100 feet!

Las Vegas Springs Preserve

Went to the Las Vegas Springs Preserve recently. It's a park/museum/learning center. It's kind of difficult to describe. But I really enjoy visiting there. These are just a couple of images of the desert plants they have there. I'd really love to photograph a wedding there. It's has lots of interesting architecture and desert garden areas.

Photographic Art History

I found this great blog by a fashion photographer out of New York. I just love all art history, but of course photography especially. It's so important to look back. How can we move forward without knowing where we've been.    http://www.ricophotography.blogspot.com/

Desert Pregnancy Session

On Saturday I took Monica out to the dry lake bed just south of Las Vegas to photograph her pregnancy session. We get there only to find out that there is dirt racing going on all weekend there so we can't shoot there. But just on the other side of the road is some large red rocks out in the desert so we set up there. I was really bummed at first that we couldn't shoot where I had planned, but the session really turned out great. I love happy accidents.
